Eisenhorn (A Warhammer 40,000 Omnibus) Dan Abnett
Publisher:

As far as an introduction into the Warhammer 40,000 universe, I can think of no better. I was inspired by the slight derailment of the Star Wars EU thread when we started talking about Warhammer 40K novels, so I'll make a new one just for that topic. Conveniently, I already have the Eisenhorn omnibus — must move it closer to the top of the stack. My first foray into the world of Inquisitors was the Eisenhorn omnibus by Dan Abnett, which collects the novels in the titular trilogy plus two interconnecting short stories. Dan Abnett's first Warhammer 40,000 trilogy centred around the activities of the Imperial Inqusition, Eisenhorn, by and large had a laser-sharp focus on the main character, but one of the more memorable supporting characters was Ravenor, Eisenhorn's apprentice. In the second book of Whilst I might have liked Ravenor a bit less if I were reading the book when it came out - it's very slightly lacking in closure - as the first third or so of an omnibus it's pretty damn good. Today you can get them in one big omnibus with two short connecting stories. As far as Eisenhorn goes, it's one of the better sci-fi novels I've ever read, forget that it's WH 40k, forget that it's derivative fiction. I've mentioned a few times now that the modern game that has most captured my interest is Fantasy Flight's Rogue Trader, set in the darkly fascinating Warhammer 40,000 universe. It follows the adventures of Imperial Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn and his associates over the span of several centuries. Let's back up a bit, because that was probably confusing. Inquisitor Eisenhorn is one on the most senior members of the Imperial Inquisition. The fantasy game Warhammer 40000 (aka Warhammer 40K) has spawned some excellent tie-in fiction that will appeal to crime fiction fans. Eisenhorn (A Warhammer 40,000 Omnibus). With his warband he scourges the galaxy in order to root out heresy. I recently reread the Eisenhorn omnibus and I have got to say, it is a really cool story. Essentially, the Omnibus describes the exploits of an Imperial Inquisitor. Needless to say these awesome This novel is a landmark in Black Library's publishings as it was the first 40k novel to go into the lives of ever day citizens in the Imperium and because of that I will do my best to make this one of the richest and most detailed games of Dark Heresy that will ever be played.
